Baja's summer heartbeat.

Sun kissed.
Sun kissed.

Every year, as the sun starts to warm the earth with more intention and the breeze turns softer and more tender, my whole body knows: summer is here!

And it’s not just any season…For me, summer is a feeling, a vibe — it’s my time to reconnect with nature. Without a doubt, it’s my favorite time of year. Not only because of the weather — though I must admit I love the heat, the sun on my skin, and the golden tan that makes me feel alive — but because everything seems to awaken. The sea becomes gentler, the animals come out more often, and the days are filled with quiet promises of incredible adventures.

We are people of the sea.
We are people of the sea.

I’ve never been able to choose just one favorite beach. From the busy shores of La Paz to the hidden corners of the Northern Pacific coast of Baja, each one holds a piece of my soul — a story, a memory, a unique kind of magic. Some make me feel at home; others remind me just how vast our world is. But all of them have that something, that indescribable energy only Baja’s beaches can give you.

We are ocean people.

Summer smells like salt and seaweed, and it tastes like fresh sashimi shared with long-lost friends reunited at sunset — letting the afternoon slip away as calmly as the ocean embraces the edge of the lagoons. It means returning to our childhood, laughing until our bellies hurt, heading out to fish, telling stories, playing music, and chasing the kind of adventures that don’t end until the stars find us barefoot, our hair tangled by the sea breeze, our bodies covered in sand and our faces glowing with sun-kissed smiles.

But beyond the vibrant colors, the delicious heat, and the long, golden days, I believe summer can also be a gentle reminder: The way we travel matters.

These days, when everything seems within reach with just a click, when landscapes multiply on social media like postcards on a wall, it’s easy to forget that nature isn’t here just to decorate our feed. Nature is alive. It feels. It tires.

And now more than ever, we need experiences born from love for the Earth — not from the desire to consume it. We need people who share their natural treasures with respect that goes beyond cameras, beyond smiles for the tourist. People who carry that bond with the natural world deep in their everyday lives. That’s what makes the difference: real care, lived consistently.

My happy place.
My happy place.

Here in this corner of Baja, where the desert and the sea embrace, those experiences still exist. Small, soulful journeys, woven by hands that grew up among waves and wild cacti. We grew up tasting salt in the air, learning to read the wind, the clouds, the tides — long before any textbook.

And if I have one wish for you this summer, it’s that you find one of those experiences (I can totally help you with that by the way!).

That you go out and explore with open eyes and a heart ready to receive whatever nature wants to offer. That you feel. That you dive in — body, heart, and soul —That you listen to the silence of the sunrise and the roar of the sea against the shore. That you walk slowly and pay attention to the tiny magical moments. And when you return home, you do so with a tired body, a joyful spirit, and the certainty that you can make a difference — no matter how small — in the natural world.

Because yes, travel can also be an act of care. And when we travel with our souls, summer isn’t just something we live — It's something that beats inside of us.

And here, under this sun, between the salt and the song of the birds, a new way of feeling this beautiful season is waiting for you.

With love, salty skin and a sunlit smile,

Sirena
